What Information Goes On A Wine Bottle Aluminium Cap?

While most wine companies use aluminium bottle caps, each brand has different laws in regards to what information must go on it.  Although most of them have basic similarities you’ll still need a few standard pieces of information that you can apply to your own wine closure.

If you’re looking to design a wine bottle cap, try to incorporate some of the following information on the closure – in a creative way.

Brand Name: What is the brand name of the wine? You can get creative with this one!

Vintage:  In which year were the fruits picked? E.g. grapes, raspberry, cashew etc)

Variety Information:  What’s more in the bottle? Does it have ginger added to it? Or is it made with some additional spices?

Content of Alcohol:  This is the information that goes on any wine bottle you see on the commercial shelf. It might be nice to include this on your wine bottle closure particularly for consumers who aren’t familiar with how the wine is made.

Geographic/ Region Location:  Where did you make the wine?  Where did the fruit come from? Which location or which region?
On commercial bottles, it must be made clear where the fruit is coming from as well as the location of the winery.

Quantity: This information indicates the quantity of wine contained within the bottle.

You can put as much or as little information on the wine bottle closure as per your requirements and needs. But designing and creating a wine bottle closure that identifies your brand in the market is important. However, ensure you make it a little creative and unique from the rest. It will save you a lot of headaches in the future.

Tip to remember: You can make the wine bottle closure as complex or as simple as you’d like. It’s because it is your wine. You are the winemaker and, you are not bound by strict wine bottle closure laws.
